“What am I doing wrong?” she said looking at Olivia defeated

  “Nothing. Your daughter will have those moments when nothing comforts her. She will cry until she falls asleep then she will cry because she is sleepy and does not want to be comforted. If she continues tomorrow call the doctor but it usually last one day or all night, depends when she started.” smiled Olivia as she pulled up the restaurant, “You just have to remember to remain calm and not to do anything rash like get her drunk or give her Nyquil.”

  Natalie looked at her, “You give Teri Nyquil.”

  “I give it to her because she has a cold.” smiled Olivia

  Olivia grabbed Claire’s seat as Natalie walked behind her. Olivia moved out the way so she can walk in first. Natalie walked in and the place yelled surprised. Natalie smiled and began to cry. Claire cried along with her. Leon moved through the crowd and took his daughter and held her to his chest. She moved her head around and stuck her fingers in her mouth. He cradled her until she quieted down. He held Natalie and she hugged him tight. She felt better in his arms.

  “Do not cry.” he said touching her face

  “You and Olivia did this?” she asked in his ear

  “It is our anniversary/baby showers all together.” he said rocking Claire in his arms, “Go enjoy yourself, I got this.” he said rocking his daughter over his shoulders

  Olivia took her and brought her to the middle of the crowd. Natalie smiled at the people who were wishing her luck. Leon sat in back and took care of Claire. Natalie would look and glance at him. He would smile at her as Claire slept. Olivia ran the party and was in charge of all the games and other activities that she could think of. The party was a hit with Natalie. She felt all the stress leave her body. Leon was called to bring Claire so everyone could see her. The crowd smiled at the family. Claire opened her eyes and they said aah. She moved her head and looked up at her father. Natalie took her as Leon opened gifts. The gifts were what they needed, Diapers. Natalie loved the clothes she got especially the dress that Olivia bought for her. Leon quieted the crowd as he pulled out his present for her. He gave Claire to Olivia and stood in front of Natalie. She looked at him and smiled.

  “I meet my wife as she was on the floor of the resort office. She intrigued me. She was full of fight and would have tried to kick my butt. I feel in love with her at the cabin where we were trapped in. She fought me until the very end but I helped her to see that we were made for each other. She finally came around when we went on our first date this month, last year. I asked her to marry me that night and she fought me again but I helped her to make up her mind. She has made me the happiest man alive especially in our home.” as she blushed and the crowd cheered, “Natalie I want you to have something that will remind you of how much I love you.” he said as he pulled out a necklace, “This was my mom. Her grandmother gave to her mother and her mother gave to her. I have added a few of my own touches to it.”

  The necklace was a heart necklace with diamonds that covered the heart, the cover of the heart was clear with a picture of Leon and Claire. Natalie hugged her husband and kissed him as the crowd went wild. She smiled as the crowd clap. Olivia cues the music and Leon took his wife to the center of the dance floor. Natalie smiled as he pulled her into his body and smiled at her. He led her in a Tango and she closed her eyes as his body took her to a heavenly place. Their body moved as one and became sexual. When it was over, the crowd cheered as Leon dipped his wife and began kissing her. Natalie missed being in his arms. He held her up and kissed her again.

  She whispered, “I did not get you anything.”

  “She is being held by her aunt.” he said kissing her neck

  “I miss this.” she said feeling her body come alive

  Leon touched her face. “Just a little while longer.” he said leading her back to the table to eat cake.

  The party finally came to a close and Natalie was tired. Olivia took them home as Leon brought home the gifts. Natalie took Claire in the bathroom to give her a warm bath. She rubbed oil on her body and powders her down. She warmed a bottle and gave it to her. She had begun to go to sleep when Leon walked in. He put all the gifts in the living room. He went to his daughter room. He kissed his daughter and kissed Natalie. Claire went to sleep. Natalie belched her as she was out for the night. Natalie laid her down and went into her bedroom. She lay on the bed and kissed him. He smiled at her.

  “Take a shower.” he said touching her face

  She took a hot shower and put on her clothes. She hated that she was still bleeding but it will be over soon. She got into the bed. He pulled her to the middle of the bed and began kissing her. She felt the fire rising in her. She needed him. He opened her shirt and his hands made love to her. She moaned under his touch. He watched her and became excited himself. He had to stop before he went any further. He closed her shirt and got up and took a shower. Natalie felt undone. She needed relief and she needed now. She tried not to think of it. She rocked herself to sleep. She began to dream of her and Leon at the waterfall. How his voice went to the core of her? She heard his Island voice and she moaned. She could see and feel him enter her. She moaned and touched his face as his lips were on her body. Natalie felt her body ready to explode. Leon start talking dirty with his Island voice and Natalie body shook. She woke up and looked around.

  Leon was looking at her and she felt her body still trembling. He smiled at her. He spoke real low and in his Island voice. Natalie closed her eyes. Leon touched her thighs as she arched her back. He could not hold back any longer. He entered her from behind. She felt her body heat rises. They continued until their desires were satisfied. Leon got up and took a shower. He went to check on Claire. Natalie took a shower and checked the bed for blood. There was none. She got back into bed. She was asleep when he got back. He got in beside her and kissed her cheek. They fell asleep.

  Leon was watching her as she stretched. She opened her eyes and looked at her husband. She smiled.

  “Good morning.”

  “Good morning Natalie. How did you sleep?” he asked touching her hair

  “Wonderful.” with a smile, “Why are you looking guilty of something?” she asked as he was silent

  “I wanted to apologize for last night. It was wrong of me to do that to you.” he said sitting up in the bed

  “It is not your fault. I was on edge and I wanted just as bad.” she said touching his arm, “It has been three weeks and I was about to go crazy, for some reason you have that affect on me.” she smiled at him

  “You have the same affect on me.” he smiled, “Just to be safe until your six week check up, I am going to sleep in the den or in Claire’s room.” he said getting up

  “What? You are going to leave me alone for three weeks.” she asked getting out of the bed to face him

  “Yes. I have to learn to control myself around you. Even now I want to take you and.” he said and Claire began to cry, “Saved by the baby.” he said leaving her standing there

  “You better run.” she said going to the bathroom

  Natalie got dressed and went into the kitchen to fix breakfast. Leon was burping Claire when she walked in. Leon held her as she watched him. He began to talk to her and she looked at him as if she understood what he was saying.

  “My angel, you and I will be roommates until mommy gets better, then she will be ready for daddy.” he smiled as she smiled, “Look Natalie she smiled at me.”

  “That is just gas.” she said frying eggs

  “It is not.” he said as Claire belched, “Maybe it was.” he said as he kissed her

  Claire sat in her chair as Leon at his breakfast. He looked at Natalie and tried to think of the most disgusting thing he could think of. She was causing a war within him. He ate his breakfast and put his dish in the sink.

  “Natalie, I am going into the office for at least four hours.”

  “I will be at the salon.” she said picking up Claire to dress her, “I want to make sure I still have a business.” she said

  Leon got dressed and gave both his ladies a kiss on the cheeks.

  “I will see you when I get home.” he said as he left the house

  Natalie and Claire left a few minutes after him. Natalie drove to her salon. She looked at the window and door. Leon had someone out the next day to fix it. He put an elegant wood door with an oval glass the initials LF engraved in the glass. The whole window on the left was clear and had a picture of Natalie with the ladies in the background. She stood outside with Claire and was in awe of the picture. The women came out and hugged Natalie.

  “Natalie, that husband of yours is gifted.” said Nancy as she took the baby

  Natalie looked at her and followed her into the salon. He had redecorated the whole salon. He took out the chairs in the salon and replaced them with nice cushy church chairs. Everything in the room was white and beige with a dash of green. He mainly decorated it like an island theme. It was beautiful. She went into her office and she had new furniture and the wall was a canvas and on it was the picture of the cabin with snow around it. Natalie had a new sofa and a new computer. Nancy came in and put Claire on the sofa.

  “When did he do this?” asked Natalie feeling her chair

  “The next day, he worked mostly at night. When we got in the next day, we were so shocked.”

  Natalie looked at her desk and opened the drawer. She saw it was a safe in the draw. Nancy looked at her.

  “No one has the key except Leon.” she said touching Claire, “All we do is drop the deposit in the drawer and leave.”

  Natalie looked at Nancy and smile. “Can you give me a moment?”

  Nancy left the office closing the door. Natalie dialed her husband’s number.

  “Hi there beautiful.”

  “You are amazing.” she smiled

  “What are you talking about?” he asked

  “The salon is beautiful. I love it.”

  “I am glad. It put me back a bit but it was worth it.”

  “Leon, you should not have done this.” she said

  “You are worth it.” he said looking at his watch, “I got to go but I will see you later.”

  “Wait, where is the key to my desk?” she asked

  “Check your daughter.” he said as he hung up the phone

  Natalie went to Claire and the key was on her leg. Natalie picked her up and kissed her. Natalie worked on the books and got them up to date. She made the deposits for the week. She picked up Claire’s chair and headed out her office when she stopped and looked into Mercedes’ face as she stood by the front desk. She stood there looking angrily at Natalie. Natalie felt a need to protect her daughter. She put her in the office and looked at Stacy. Stacy walked past her and closed the door. Natalie walked to the front and smiled.

  “Can I help you?” she said smiling

  “Why did you have him arrested? He did not do anything to you; all he wanted was to talk to you. But you had Julian to beat him up.” she said beginning to get loud, “You are a bitch. Now my son is going to go hungry because of you, you selfish bitch.”

  Natalie looked at her and got close up, “First, you better calm your ass down in my salon. Second, Marcus did that to himself, I did not do anything.”

  “You lying whore!” she screamed as she slapped Natalie

  Natalie backhanded her. Mercedes hit the desk and fell to the floor. Natalie looked at her with rage rising up inside her.

  “You bitch!” yelled Mercedes as she got up, “You will pay for what you have done.”

  Nancy held Natalie’s arm as Mercedes left the salon. Natalie held onto the desk when she heard a crash. Mercedes threw a block at Natalie’s windshield. Natalie ran after her but Jessie caught her and brought her back into the salon. Natalie began cursing as she looked at the damage to her car. Natalie went in and apologizes to the customers for the disturbance. She went into her office and thanked Stacy who was feeding Claire. She took over and asked Stacy to close the door.

  She took a deep breath before she called the police, her insurance company and Leon. The police were sending someone over to take a report. The insurance company was also sending someone to assess the damage. Leon was not happy. He left his office and came to the salon. He walked in as the police were talking to Natalie and Nancy. Natalie pointed to the office. He walked in and Claire was crying. He picked her up and cleaned her up. He gave her a bottle as he walked out to see what was happening. Natalie was talking to the insurance adjuster. She shook the man hands and walked into the salon. She did not look at Leon. She went to the bathroom. She looked at her face and began to get angry again. She came out and he was standing by the door with Claire over his shoulder. He saw the hand print on her face and touched it. She smiled and walked to her office. She grabbed her bags as he took the chair. He put Claire in the chair and put her in the car. He drove them home. Natalie did not say anything.

  When they got home Leon took Claire and her bags into the house as Natalie opened the door. She took Claire and put her in the bed and she went into her room. She threw her purse on the bed and looked at her face in the mirror. Leon watched her. She took a brush and threw it against the wall. She sat on the bed and looked at her hand. Leon took her hands in his and held them. She looked at him then laid her head on his shoulder. He held her kissing her head.

  Natalie ran water in the tub. The hot water eased the anger right out of her. She closed her eyes and tried to think of something pleasant. Leon came in with Claire and sat on the toilet next to her. Claire whined and Natalie opened her eyes. She smiled at her baby.

  “Can we join the party?” asked Leon as he held Claire up

  “She can but you can’t” she smiled as she reached for Claire

  He took off Claire’s clothes and handed her to Natalie. She laid her on her knee as she played with her. Claire smiled at her as Natalie threw water on her. Natalie felt better, what happened today disappeared as she played with her daughter. Leon got a towel and took Claire out of the tub. He smiled at Claire then laughed at Natalie. Natalie looked at her leg as Claire left a present for her. Natalie rolled her eyes and looked up at the ceiling. Leon took Claire to the other bathroom and cleaned her up. He oiled her down and put powder on her. He put on her night clothes and took her back into their bedroom. Natalie took a shower and got out. She put on her clothes and lay on the bed. Claire was playing with Leon when Natalie got on the bed.

  “You little stinker that was not nice.” she said touching her

  Leon laid her on her stomach and she tried to raise her head. They smiled and cheered her on. Claire moved like a fish flapping around. Natalie laughed. Natalie flipped her over and held her hand on her chest. She closed her eyes as Claire played with her hands. Leon watched over her as she went to sleep. He took Claire into her room and gave her a bottle. She finally went to sleep. Leon laid a mattress on the floor and looked at the ceiling. He drifted off to sleep. He turned and found Natalie next to him. He held her as they slept.

  Olivia came over to see Natalie and Claire. She walked in and found Natalie on the floor with Claire playing. Olivia sat beside her sister holding her left hand in front of her face. Natalie was talking with Teri and did not notice. Olivia pushed the hair from in front of Natalie’s face. Natalie smiled at Olivia and thanked her. Olivia walked into the kitchen looking for Leon. He was watching a game. Olivia folded her arms as she looked at him.

  “She did not notice the ring, huh”

  “No. I did everything but sing and dance.” she said looking at him

  Leon laughed at her. He walked into the living room and sat beside Natalie. Olivia stood there and picked up Claire. Natalie smiled at Leon as Olivia played with Claire. Leon started laughing. Olivia sat next to Natalie and began talking to Claire.

  “Hello precious. You know your mom is blind as a bat.”

  “I am not.” said Natalie as she smiled at Olivia, “I saw the rock when you walked in.” she laughed

 
Olivia looked at her, “You did not say anything.” said Olivia as Leon and Natalie laughed, “I hate you.” she said playing with Claire

  Claire pulled her dangling earring. Olivia looked at Claire as she smiled.

  “Natalie, please get my earring out of her hand, it is beginning to hurt.” she said

  Natalie opened Claire’s hand and freed her ear. Olivia handed her back and looked at Natalie.

  “When did this happened?” asked Natalie leaning on Leon and playing with Claire

  “Quincy took me on a boat ride around Clearwater beach. He had dinner brought in and he had my ring on top of a Strawberry cheesecake. I freaked out and he pointed to the bridge. He had will you marry me in lights. I cried and said yes.” she said holding Teri

  “I am happy for you.” said Natalie

  “I knew you would like him. You owe me.” said Leon as held Natalie

  “You got Natalie, we are even.” she said smiling at him

  “How you figured?” he said sitting up

  “I was the one who told you to go to her when that scum bag broke her heart.”

  “She did do that Leon.” said Natalie

  “Fine, we are even.” he said taken his daughter with him, “Come on Claire. Your mommy and aunt needs time to talk.”

  Olivia waved at her, “Keep daddy busy.” she said, “Brother-in-law you forgot one.” she said sending Teri with him

  Leon left with the two girls as Natalie sat next to Olivia.

  “What really happened?”

  “Everything happened like I said but what I did not say was we made love on the boat. Then he fed me the cheesecake with the ring on it. At that exact time we floated by the bridge. I was standing on the boat naked and watching the lights flashed before my eyes. It was magical.”

  Natalie smiled. Olivia told her about the whole evening.

  “Natalie, he made me feel like a queen. Now I know how you felt about Leon. When I am not with him I am so sick, then when we are together it is like heaven.”

  “Yes it is like that.” said Natalie, “When is the date?

  “April of next year.” she said smiling, “We want a wedding. You have to be my maid of honor.”
