  “How are you and the little one doing?” she asked

  “I am fine. How are you?” asked Natalie

  “I am happy and scared. I am marrying the man of my dreams and I am doing it in front of his entire family.”

  “You will be fine. When you see him everyone else will melt away?” said Natalie holding her hand

  “Natalie, there something I have to tell you.”

  “What?”

  “You are not the only one pregnant.” smiled Olivia touching her stomach, “I haven’t told Quincy yet.”

  Natalie started crying and held her sister. “When are you going to tell him?”

  Olivia smiled, “I do not know.”

  “I know. Do it tonight. I want to show you our special place. You can walk and tell him then.”

  Olivia smiled and held her sister, “I am so glad you are here with me.”

  “What are big sisters for?”

  They continued to talk until the girls came in the room. Natalie went into the living room and sat next to Leon as they watched a game. She whispered in his ear and he looked at her.

  “Aunt, can you watch the girls for a couple of hours?” he said

  “Sure.”

  Leon grabbed two blankets and threw one to Quincy, “Let’s go for a walk.”

  They walked down the road and came to the house that Leon grew up in and saw the ruined house. Natalie held his hand tightly as they continued to walk down a path.

  “Julian, where are we going?” asked Quincy holding Olivia hand

  “Just keep up, we are almost there.”

  Natalie could hear the water. They got to the place and Leon put a blanket on the ground and sat Natalie down. He sat with her between his legs. She leaned back on his chest and felt at peace. Olivia and Quincy were in awe of this place. Quincy put the blanket on the ground. They sat on the blanket and watched the falls. Leon touched Natalie’s face and began kissing her. She forgot about her sister and Quincy. She looked into his eyes and saw the desire in them. She smiled.

  “Let’s find a more secluded spot.”

  Leon smiled and whispered in her ear, “You are naughty.”

  He helped her up and took their blanket a little further down the hill. Quincy smiled at them and wrapped his arms around Olivia. Leon and Natalie were in the throws of passion when they heard Quincy yell. Leon looked up and were about to leave her, when she turned his face to hers.

  “He just found out he is going to be a father. Now you have a wife that is at the door and you need to let her in.” she smiled as she bent down and kissed him

  Leon lay back as she took control again. Natalie could not hold on any longer. She screamed his name and lay to the side. He smiled at her and kissed her.

  “Do you want to swim?” he asked

  “Is it safe?” she asked wrapping the blanket around her

  “I‘ve got you covered.” he smiled taking her hand and leading her through to the lake below.

  She stood on the edge as Leon jumped in. He swam toward the bottom and came back up. He came to her. She dropped the blanket and got in with him. The water was cold against her naked body. He swam towards her and held her in his arms and kissed her. They were kissing when Quincy jumped in the lake splashing them. He swam to them.

  “I am going to be a father.” he smiled as Leon smiled at him

  “Congratulations.” said Leon and Natalie

  “Where is Olivia?” asked Natalie

  Quincy looked at the rock and saw her sitting there smiling at him. He swam towards her and pulled her in with her clothes on. She splashed him and swam away from him but he grabbed her kissing her. She did not mind being wet. Natalie and Leon began kissing again. This night was perfect. Natalie and Leon left them in the water as they grabbed their clothes and went back home. Natalie stopped at his house. Leon held her from behind as he kissed her head.

  “It is just a shell now.” said Leon rocking her

  She kissed him, “I love you.”

  He smiled, “I love you too.”

  They walked back to the house to their daughter.

  The wedding on the beach was beautiful. Olivia was beautiful. The family cheered as they were announced man and wife. Natalie cried as her sister was finally married.

  The reception was a party that lasted two days. Natalie never saw so much food. Leon was having fun with his family. Claire was enjoying herself as well. Natalie went into the house to take a nap. She felt a little hand on her leg. She looked as Claire was trying to climb into the bed with her. Natalie helped her up and held her as they both went to sleep.

  Natalie woke up to the quietness. Claire was gone and she went into the front room and saw her playing with Teri. Leon was helping with the clean up. Natalie sat on the sofa. Aunt rose came in and saw her. She smiled and gave her a plate of food that Leon had on the stove for her. She ate her food and felt a kick. She smiled and called Claire.

  “Look at this Claire.” said Natalie showing her stomach

  Claire saw the stomach moved and she was laughing. Natalie felt the baby kick more. She adjusted her seat and put her feet up. She was rubbing her stomach when Leon walked in. He sat next to her.

  “Food too spicy.”

  “No the baby is just stretching.” she said as he began to rub her stomach, “Where is the couple?”

  “They are at our spot.” he said playfully, “it has been two days and they have not left our spot.”

  “I am sorry.” she said kissing him

  “You right the baby is kicking way too much.” he said looking at her

  “I am going back to bed.” she said

  He helped her up watching as she went into the bedroom. He watched Claire until she was tired and he took her a bath and put on her nightclothes. He was holding her in his arms as he read her a story when Aunt Rose walked in. She smiled at him and could not believe her nephew was a father. She sat and talked with him as he held the sleepy Claire.

  Natalie got out of bed feeling pain through her body. She made it out of the room and walked along the wall. She held onto the wall as the pain was hitting her hard. She pulled her body out into the doorway and held her hand on the corner wall. Aunt Rose saw her first and ran to her. Natalie held onto her. Leon put Claire down and went to her.

  “Natalie, what is wrong?”

  “I don’t know but I am having pains in my back.” she said looking at him frighten

  “Aunt Rose.”

  “Julian, go I can handle this.”

  Leon helped her to the car and drove to the hospital. Natalie back was killing her. She was scared. They got to the hospital and Leon began talking fast as Natalie tried her best to keep up but the pain was too much. They wheeled her back to the emergency room and strapped her up to a machine. The doctor walked in and smiled at her.

  “What is happening?” Natalie asked

  “I am Dr. Jones.” she said, “We will find out.” she smiled

  “This can’t be real.” laughed Natalie

  “Why?” said Dr. Jones

  “My doctor back home is Dr. Jones.” she said trying to not scream

  “Are you talking about Dr. Michael Jones?”

  “Yes.” said Natalie

  “I know him, he is my brother.” she said, “I am Cassie Jones.”

  Natalie laughed until a pain hit her. “What is happening?”

  “Let me check.”

  She checked Natalie out and ordered a Sonogram. Natalie was wheeled out the room into another room. They did a sonogram and found out the cause of her pain. They wheeled her back into her room. The doctor had them to get her husband. Leon came back and stood by Natalie. The doctor came in with the results.

  “Hi, I am Dr. Jones.” as she shook Leon’s hand

  He stared at her.

  “I am Dr. Jones’ sister. Small world.” she said smiling, “I called Michael and told him what was happening here and he conclude with me that your babies are trying to come early. Apparently there is not e
nough room to move around in.”

  Leon and Natalie did not say anything but stared at the doctor as if she was wearing a second head.

  “She has how many in there?” asked Leon

  “We can only see two but it might be a third.”

  Leon sat down in the chair and looked at Natalie. Natalie was in shock but the pain knocked it out of her. She screamed as the pain were worst than the last. Leon held her hand.

  “We can help with the pain but right now you are in labor.”

  Natalie wanted the pain to stop. “Make this pain go away.” she said as she grabbed the bed

  Dr. Jones told the nurse to get an epidural in Natalie. Natalie held onto the rail as Leon rubbed her back. He could not do anything else. They came and gave her the epidural and Natalie was more relaxed. She felt no pain at all. She held Leon’s hand and smiled at him. The doctor came in and handed them the phone.

  “Natalie, this is Dr. Jones. My sister is the best so you are in great hands. One more thing your whole family is free and clear from the disease. I will talk to you when you get home.”

  Natalie smiled, “Thank you God.”

  Leon kissed her. Dr. Jones checked her again and called for the nurse.

  “Get the room ready. Get the team together.” she said pulling down the sheet

  “Is everything okay?” asked Leon

  “Yes, it is just you are having babies.” she smiled, “We will come and get you to have you changed into scrubs. Then you can watch your babies being born.” she said as she left

  They rolled Natalie out of the exam room and took her into the delivery room. Leon paced as they took him to wash up. He put on the scrubs and went to stand beside Natalie. She was laying there looking at him. The team came in and got into position.

  “Natalie I need for you to push.”

  Natalie tried but she was not doing anything. The doctor pushed on her stomach as Leon raised her body. The first one came out screaming. Natalie leaned back and breath. The doctor gave the baby to a nurse then told Natalie to push again. Natalie tried as Leon held her body up and the doctor pushed down on her stomach. The second came out screaming louder. Natalie body wanted to give out. One more time Natalie. Natalie pushed down as Leon held her up. There were no more. The doctor had them to sonogram her stomach and there was nothing to see at the time. She cleaned Natalie up and left the room. Natalie smiled as Leon kissed her lips.

  “They are beautiful.” he said.

  They took the babies into the nursery. They had to put them in incubators. Leon waited with Natalie until they took her to her room. He went to the nursery to find out what is happening to his kids. He paced by the window when he heard Quincy say his name.

  “Julian, we came as fast as we could. How is she?”

  “She is asleep and the babies are fine.” smiled Leon

  “Babies!” said Olivia touching her face, “Where are they?”

  “They took them and I am awaiting word.” he said, “You want to hear something crazy. The doctor who worked on Natalie is the sister of her doctor back home.”

  Quincy and Olivia were shocked then they laughed.

  “My sister can not get a break.” smiled Olivia

  The nurse came out, “The doctor will be out to talk to you in a minute.” she said smiling

  The door open and a short man walked out with grey hair and big glasses. His skin was olive and he had a smile that seemed to light up the room.

  “Mr. De Leon, I am Dr. Garcia. Your babies are in good health their lungs haven’t fully developed. We would have to keep them in the incubators for awhile until it is safe for them. You can see them but we have to keep them in the nursery.”

  Leon looked at him and tried to understand, “They took them away so fast and I do not know the sex.”

  “You have a son and daughter.” he said looking at him, “Do you want to see them?”

  Leon smiled, “Yes.”

  The doctor walked him through to the other side of the room. Leon saw two small babies that were lying in this glass. His son was light with dark hair. His daughter was a brown skin with black hair. He put his hand on the glass and was overjoyed. Quincy and Olivia walked in and were smiling at the babies. Leon’s eyes were red as he smiled at his kids. The nurse looked at him and gave him a tissue. He realized he was not ready for this. He looked at Olivia in horror.

  “We have nothing for them. We never thought they would come this early.”

  “Do not worry? We can get a few things that will hold you over until you get home.” she said

  Leon kissed her, “Thank you. I have to find my wife and check on her.” said Leon as he kissed the glass and left to find Natalie

  Natalie felt someone touching her hand. She saw Leon smiling at her. She touched his face and smiled.

  “Did you see them?” she said slowly

  “They are beautiful. Our son look like Claire and our daughter looks like you.” he said touching her face, “I love you.”

  Natalie smiled, “I love you.” she said looking at him, “I do not think I can handle this again.” she said closing her eyes

  “I do not think I can handle it either.” he said as he kissed her

  “They can tie my tubes and we do not have to worry about birth control unless God wants us to have another one.” she smiled as she ran her hand over her head, “Can you see if they can do that procedure?”

  “You just rest and I handle it.” he said as he kissed her

  Natalie smiled and closed her eyes and went back to sleep. He went out to the nurses’ station and asked to see Dr. Jones. An hour passed and Dr. Jones came to talk to him.

  “Dr. Jones, my wife and I would like to know about tying her tubes.”

  “Do you and her want it?” she asked looking at him

  “Yes, the three babies are enough.” he smiled.

  Dr. Jones smiled, “I will have the nurse give you the paper to sign then we will do the procedure.”

  “Thank you.” said Leon as his cell phone ranged, “Excuse me, doctor. Thank you again.” he said shaking her hand

  He answered phone, “Hello.”

  “Julian, what is happening?” asked Aunt Rose

  “Natalie is fine and the babies are in intensive care until the lungs are fully developed.” he said

  “Babies!”

  “Yes, we have a son and daughter.”

  “God bless both of you, Natalie and those kids. Tell Natalie I love her and get better. Claire is still sleeping.”

  “I will be home after I sign some papers.” he said

  “I am happy for you. I will see you when you get home.”

  Leon was met by the nurse with papers. He sat in the chair and signed all papers that they needed. After an hour, he finished the paper work and went to see his wife. Natalie was still asleep. He kissed her. He left her room and walked to see his kids. They let him in. He smiled at them and left. He went to his aunt’s house. He took a shower and got into bed with his daughter. He kissed her and drifted off to a dreamless sleep.

  Natalie was sore and felt like she was hit with a building. She got up and went to the bathroom. She changed her dressing and went back to the bed. She raised the bed up a little and looked at the balloons and flowers that decorated her room. She closed her eyes and called the nurse for some pain medicine.

  “I will be in there to give you your medicine.” said the nurse

  Natalie was cramping bad and she needed to feel better. They tied her tubes but she felt like they turned her stomach upside down. She paged the nurse again.

  “Yes Mrs. De Leon.”

  “Can I see the doctor?” she asked

  “She is on her way into see you.” said the nurse

  Dr. Jones walked in and smiled, “How are you feeling?”

  “Did you hit me with a building?” she said in pain

  Dr. Jones laughed, “No that is the effects of the epidural.”

  “I do not feel right. I hav
e bad cramps and my stomach feels like it is upside down.”

  Dr. Jones walked to the door and called the nurse, “Can you get a sonogram up here and get 500ml of Motrin?”

  The doctor closed the curtain and examined her. “Natalie did you have a bowel movement since yesterday?”

  “Yes before I got here.”

  The nurse brought the technician and gave her the medicine. She gave the tech orders of where to scan. The doctor stepped out to write the information in her chart. She heard Natalie scream. Dr. Jones rushed back in and looked at the blood that soaked the bed. Dr. Jones looked at the tech and he handed her the pictures he took as they took Natalie to surgery. The doctor called Leon.

  “Mr. De Leon this is Dr. Jones, we need you to come down here. It is your wife.”

  “What is wrong with her?” he yelled

  “Please come down to the hospital and I will explain.”

  “I am on my way.” he said.

  Dr. Jones called her brother, “Michael, your patience Natalie De Leon seemed to have just miscarriage.”

  “How did that happened?”

  “I do not know. She just had two babies and she had her tubes tied and she complained of pain and now we are on the way to surgery.”

  “Call me when you are done.” said Michael

  “I will.” said Cassie as she was rushed into the operating room.

  Leon got there and went to her room and saw the bed emptied. He went to the nurses’ desk.

  “Where is my wife?” he said looking confused

  “Mr. De Leon, Dr. Jones said she will talk with you after surgery. Please have a seat.”

  Leon paced and tried to remain calm. He sat down then got up again. He went into Natalie’s room and prayed to God. After he had prayed he watched the sun began its reign on the earth. He looked at his watch and it has been an hour and still no answer. Leon walked out the door and Dr. Jones was walking towards him. She had a look of being defeated. She ushered Leon back into the room. She stood before him.

  “What is it?” he said

  “Your wife complained of pain this morning. I had them to do a sonogram on her and as they performed it Natalie bleed all over the bed. She was in pain. It seemed your wife had a miscarriage. We had to open the tubes and clean her out. We retied the tubes and she is in recovery.”
