  “It looks like you are getting ready for your wife.” she said smiling

  “I am.” he said stepping closer to her

  Natalie began to feel trapped. She walked passed him into the living room. She looked at a painting of a cabin.

  “This is a nice painting.” she said

  “Thank you.” he said as he stood behind her

  “You painted this.” she asked

  “Yes, when I see something that captures my heart, I have to paint it.”

  His voice was making her weak. She had to sit down. She turned and he was right there. She went around him and sat down. Leon remained calm.

  “Would you like something to drink?”

  “Yes, water will do.”

  “I will be right back.” he said as he disappeared into the kitchen

  Natalie looked through his collection of movies and saw a painting against the wall. Leon came back and gave her a glass. She took a sip.

  “Leon, what is that a painting of?” she asked

  Leon smiled. “I was hoping that my wife would display it.” he said picking it up

  “Leon, what wife?” she asked as he turned it around for her to see

  It was a picture of her in her white dress. She put the glass down before she dropped it. She looked at it and placed her hand over her mouth.

  “Do you like it?” he asked

  “It is beautiful.”

  “Everything in this house reminds me of you. From the cabin painting to the white plush rug in the bedroom.” he said putting the painting down, “I am in love with you. I tried to leave but I could not bring myself to do it. I tried to stay away but I could not do it. I need you. I need you like I need air. You are my heart and soul. Natalie I am in love with you.” he said touching her face

  Natalie started to cry. She hugged him and began kissing his lips. He held her until both were weak. She smiled against his lips as he took her to the bedroom. She kicked her shoes off as he held her in his arms. He laid her on the bed. He started to undress her. She did not protest she wanted it. She was on the bed naked. He took off his clothes and kissed her. She heard him moan and that made her body shake. He kissed her until they could not breathe. His mouth found what it was looking for. His mouth savored her breast. His hand and mouth made love to her body sending it into spasm. He introduces his love to her heart. She felt it all the way to her chest. She arched her back as he glided in and out. She tried to breath but her mind and body were screaming with pleasure. His mouth was on hers again making her body shake. He said her name and the room seemed to go dark. She looked up as his head lay on her chest. His dreads felt soft on her body. He kissed her breast again. He leaned on his hand and looked at her. He touched her face.

  “Was it better than your dream you had at the cabin?” he said looking at her eyes

  “No,” she said touching his dreads

  “No?” he asked “Why was the dream better?”

  She smiled as she pulled him to her lips; “You were dipped in chocolate.” she smiled as he laughed

  He kissed her. “Marry me and I will dip in chocolate and honey for you.”

  She smiled then looked serious, “There is some things I need to tell you first.” she said looking into his eyes, “You might want to reconsider that offer.”

  He looked at her as she began to talk of her illness that she might have and of what Marcus had done. Leon looked into her eyes and pushed back her hair.

  “Marry me?”

  “Did you not hear what I said?”

  “I heard that you might be sick and will need a lot of love and patience and that your ex is an asshole.” he said smiling at her, “Marry me?”

  “Leon.” she said pleading with him

  “Natalie, do you love me?” he asked

  She looked into his eyes, “Yes I am in love with you.”

  “That is all I need.” he said as he began kissing her

  They made love again as he held her close to his heart.

  Natalie stood in front of the painting of the cabin. She could not believe that she spent the weekend with Leon. His love making was just like she thought. It was powerful and yet calming. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed another cup of juice. She stood in the kitchen with his shirt on and nothing else. He put her clothes someplace and would not give them back. She watched a bird sitting on a branch when arms wrapped around her body. She smiled as he kissed her neck.

  “Are you hungry?” she asked

  “Yes.” he said as he picked her up and placed her on the counter. He stood between her legs and unbuttoned the shirt she wore. He let it fall to the counter as he began kissing her. She loved what he was doing to her. He picked her up and laid her on the floor of the kitchen and made love. The cold tile eased their hot bodies as it erupted. Natalie smiled as they kiss.

  “Marry me, Natalie?”

  She looked into his eyes, “Yes”

  He smiled a big smile and rolled over and let her be on top. Natalie never felt this much love or happiness before. Leon held her against him as he erupted again.

  Natalie played in his dreads when something went cling on the floor. He smiled as she saw a ring.

  She smiled, “You just knew I would say yes.”

  “That would be the only way you will get your washed clothes.” he smiled

  She hit his chest as he rolled over. He took the ring out of his hair and put it on her finger.

  “This was my grandmother’s ring. She told me to give it to the one that holds my heart.” he said looking at her

  She touched his face and smile, “And you hold mine.”

  Leon kissed her and smiled. “Natalie, we have three more rooms to have sex in before you go.”

  “You are trying to have me walking funny on Monday.”

  “Yes. They will know that you had a great weekend.” he said taking her into the den

  Natalie drove home feeling like flying. Olivia was sitting watching TV with Teri, when Natalie walked in. Olivia looked at her smiling and raised her eyebrow. Natalie sat on the sofa looking at her sister.

  “Teri grab a cookie and go play in your room.” said Olivia as Teri kissed Natalie and left the room, “Details?”

  Natalie smiled and showed her the ring. Olivia screamed. Natalie blushed and told her about him at the salon, about the house and about him asking her the whole weekend to marry him. Olivia smiled and screamed again.

  “When can I officially meet him?” asked Olivia

  “In thirty minutes. He is bringing dinner that we did not eat Friday.” she said as she ran to her room to shower and change.

  She fixed her hair and put on a sundress. She walked out as he stood there with flowers. Natalie went to him and kissed him.

  “This is for the prettiest girl in the world.” he said as he gave Teri a pink rose, “This is for her lovely mother.” he gave Olivia three pink roses, “This is for the most beautiful, gorgeous, and adorable fiancée in the world.” he gave her a dozen of red roses

  Natalie smiled and kissed him. “You are such a smooth talker.”

  He whispered in her ear, “I have to be extra nice to the people in your life.”

  She smiled as he pulled out a seat for all the ladies. He served them the food he bought. They talked and ate it all. He held Natalie hand as they ate their food.

  “Why people call you Leon instead of Julian?” asked Olivia

  “I like both. They just feel comfortable calling me Leon. My ex called me Julian she thought it was more high class.” he said playing with Natalie’s hand

  “What was your first impression of Nat?”

  “I thought she was rude, sexy and beautiful.” he smiled kissing her hand

  “Nat, what were your thoughts of him?”

  Natalie smiled at him as he looked at her with those light eyes, “I thought he was an arrogant person whose voice rocked my soul.”

  Leon lean over and whispered in her ear, “You rocked something else.
”

  Natalie blushed and drunk her tea.

  “Mommy can I go to my room?” asked Teri

  “Yes.”

  Leon helped her down as she went to her room. He sat by Natalie and kissed her ear and neck.

  “I want to apologize.” said Olivia to Leon, “That day at the dress shop, I thought you just wanted to add my big sister to your belt. Now I know you truly love her.”

  Leon got up hugging and kissing her cheek, and then he sat back down by Natalie.

  “One more thing before I leave, do you have family?” she asked

  “Yes, I do. You will meet them at the reception.”

  “Reception?” asked Natalie and Olivia

  He looked at Natalie, “I do not want to share that moment with anyone. I want it to be me and you and a big tub of chocolate.”

  Natalie laughed and kissed him, “Do not forget the honey?”

  “Never.” he said as he kissed her lips

  “One more thing before I leave. Natalie, are you staying the night?”

  Natalie looked at Leon and touched his cheek, “No”

  Leon smiled as he kissed her hand.

  “Let me know when you leave. Also your MRI is tomorrow at 9. Use plenty of protection. I love you. Congratulation.” she said as she kissed and hugged the both of them

  Natalie smiled, “Let me get clothes for tomorrow. I will meet you at your house.”

  “I will clean up here and you follow me.” he said as he kissed her, “I do not want to be away from you too long since I finally got you.”

  Natalie kissed him as she went to her room. She packed some clothes and personal things. She took her phone. She kissed Teri and Olivia good night. She and Leon walked out the door. She got in her car and took off as he followed in his car. She beat him back to his house. He got out and opened the door. Leon stopped her. He picked her up and carried her over the threshold. Leon locked the door as Natalie laughed. He took her to the bedroom putting her down on the bed and kissed her.

  “I forgot to give you something.” he said opening her hand, “Close your eyes.”

  She closed her eyes and he put keys in her hand.

  “Those are yours.”

  Natalie looked at him, “Are you serious?”

  “I am serious about anything that concerns you. You will be my wife and this will be your home. And I will become the happiest man in the world.” he said lifting her up and sitting on the bed.

  They began kissing as he leaned back.

  Natalie lay in the dark watching him sleep. She touched his eyebrows then his mustache. She caressed his beard. He turned and looked at her.

  “What’s the matter?” he said

  “Nothing, I am finally where I want to be and it seems like a dream. If I asked you something would you be truthful.”

  “Yes”

  “You knew about Marcus and other women?”

  “Yes.”

  “Why did you just tell me?” she said looking into his eyes

  “Would you have believed me?”

  “No.” she said caressing his hand

  “Was it Mercedes that hurt you before?”

  “Yes”

  “Can you tell me about it?”

  “Why? It is ancient history?”

  “Then tell me about your family.” she said moving closer to him

  He smiled, “Why all the questions?”

  She looked at his mouth, “I love to hear you speak. I love the way your mouth moves when you speak. I love the way your voice shakes me up inside.”

  “You are scared of the test tomorrow?”

  “Yes”

  He sat up in the bed and laid her head on his chest. “I was born in St. Thomas to a mixed Island mother and an Island father. My mother passed away when I was twelve and my father raised me and my little sister on his own. When I was sixteen, my fourteen year old sister ran away. She missed mom the most, she lashed out at everyone. She started taking drugs and by the time she was sixteen she overdosed on heroin. They found her in an abandon house on the outskirts of town. My father was devastated.” he said trying not to cry but she could here it in his voice

  She kissed him, “I am sorry.”

  “I have never spoken of my sister until now. I was supposed to protect her. I was her big brother and now she is gone.” he said as tears fell from his eyes

  Natalie kissed him, “It is not your fault. She was upset and she did not know how to talk it out. You did what you could.” she said touching his face, “I am sorry for opening those wounds.”

  He touched her face. “Lay back down, I am not finished.” he said pointing to his chest

  She smiled as she put her head to his chest, “I have an aunt who helped raised me. I have three cousins, Quincy is older and a doctor, Quentin is the middle and he is a fisherman and Yvette is still in school. She is getting her degree as a lawyer. I have more but I really do not know them that well.” he said smiling, “Do you feel better?”

  “No.”

  “What else do you want to talk about?” he said caressing her hair

  She looked at him and smile, “I want you to make love to me like in your dreams.”

  “My dreams are pretty wild.” he said

  “I trust you completely.”

  He pulled her up kissing her. He did things to her body that gave her a glimpse of his mind. She loved every moment of it. When he was done, Natalie fell to sleep in his arms.

  Natalie showered and thought about her test. She got out the shower and her clothes were gone from the bed. Natalie wrapped the towel around her and went into the kitchen. Leon was drinking his coffee.

  “Where are they?”

  “What are you talking about?” he said lifting up the towel

  “Julian De Leon, where are my clothes?”

  “Did you look in the closet or in the drawers.” he said sipping coffee

  She went back in the room and opened the closet doors. He had hung up her pants and shirt. He placed her underwear in the island. She rolled her eyes and started to put on her clothes.

  When she felt his hands on hers, “Let me.” he said

  He took her panties and placed her feet in one at a time and pulled them up. He took her bra as he dropped the towel and put it on. He made sure they were straight and he gave them a kiss. He pulled her pants off the hanger and helped her into them. He put her shirt on and buttons it up.

  “Thank you.” she said

  “It is more fun taking them off.” he said as he kissed her.

  Natalie phone ranged. She knew that ring tone. Leon looked at her as she walked out of the closet to put on her shoes.

  “Are you going to answer it?”

  “No.”

  “Are you going to tell him about us?”

  “Eventually.”

  “Natalie, just because he wasn’t truthful with you does not mean you can’t be truthful with him.”

  Natalie sighed. “You are right.” she said as she put on her watch, “What about you?”

  “Me?”

  “Yes with Ms. Mercedes.”

  “How about this we invite them out to dinner and tell them at the same time?” he said

  “Babe that will not be good.” she said laughing, “How about we get married then tell them?” she said laughing

  “I like your way of thinking. We can go to the courthouse or justice of the peace. We can apply today and wait three days. We will be husband and wife by Friday then we will talk to them on Saturday.”

  “Leon, I was joking.” she said standing up

  “I am not. Make this my early Christmas present.” he said pushing his dreads back

  “I got to go. I will call you.” she said as she picked up her clothes

  “How are you going to call me?” he asked as he kissed her

  “That is right, what is your number?” she asked

  “I put it in your phone while you took a shower.”

  “That is one of the reasons that I love you.�
�� she said as she kissed him

  “Natalie, call me as soon as it is over.”

  “I will.” she said walking out the door

  Leon stood in the door as she backed out. She blew her horn at him and drove off. Leon hoped she would take him seriously.

  Natalie took the MRI and rushed to the salon. She called Leon when she got to the salon.

  “Natalie, have you thought about what I said this morning?”

  “Yes, I have but can I call you back in ten. My phone is about to die.”

  “Sure.” he said as he hung up

  Natalie walked into the salon. Everyone was looking at her strange.

  “All right what is going on?” she asked the room

  “Who is he?” asked one lady

  “Does he have a father, brother, or uncle?” said Jessie

  “Hell the way he looks, I would date the grand daddy.” said Nancy

  The room burst out laughing.

  “Let me make a call then I will be back to talk to you.” smiled Natalie

  She plugged up her cell phone and called Leon back.

  “Sorry about that, I think I need a new phone.” she said smiling, “What were we discussing?”

  “Getting married this week?”

  “Do you think my landlord will let me out of my contract?”

  “Maybe if you asked her nicely.” he said smiling.

  “Hold on for a minute.” she said calling Olivia’s number and placed her on three way, “Hi Olivia, Leon and I were discussing about getting married this week. You know apply for a license, wait the three days then get married by Friday.”

  “That means you would be out of the house by Friday night and I will get my own room. Hell yeah do it.”

  “Don’t sound so broken up.” said Natalie as Leon laughed

  “Natalie I love you and you are my big sis. Live your life with the one who makes you happy, just as long I can get a single friend, relative or something.”

  Leon laughed, “I will make sure to pick out a good one.”

  “That is what I am talking about.” said Olivia, “I’ve got to go and see about some silk sheets. Love you.” Olivia hung up.
